We are currently seeking an Intermediate Payroll and Benefits Specialist to join our Finance team in Burnaby, Calgary or Toronto. This role is also available to candidates remotely across Canada (excluding Québec).

This role will work on providing the link between finance and the broader Clion population, as well as reconciling payroll and benefits to the general ledger.

Who you are: 

We’re looking for a reliable, detail oriented individual who is just as happy working independently as sharing their knowledge with others. The right person has a strong understanding of payroll and benefits administration, and knows how to not only create reports, but pull valuable recommendations from the data. 

What you’ll work on:

  • Administration
    • Managing the administration of payroll for all company employees and executing payroll reconciliation reports and schedules in a timely and accurate manner
    • Maintaining the payroll records in our HRIS system, as well as making recommendations to improve the scalability and efficiency of internal payroll and benefit processes
    • Administering the Company’s extended health and dental plan and the RRSP program, including the initial setup for new hires, employee record maintenance and status changes
    • Reconciling payroll and benefits, and managing the flow of information to the general ledger to ensure costs are allocated to the correct account and cost centre
    • Managing the preparation of monthly, and quarterly commission and bonus calculations
    • Reviewing and ensuring custody of employee agreements and internal employee adjustments letters are secure
    • Reviewing the information for new hires, resignations and terminations and ensuring it is correct (i.e. calculations, letters, and ROE)
    • Preparing short-term and long-term disability applications
    • Creating and maintaining operating manuals for all payroll, benefit and insurance processes
  • Report preparation
    • Preparation of provincial and federal reporting and remittances (i.e. WCB, WSIB, EHT, ROEs, etc.)
    • Preparing year-end reconciliations and tax form preparation (T4s, T4As, Form 2220s, WCB, WSIB, EHT, etc.)
    • Preparing documents for annual audit and other ad-hoc external payroll and tax audits
    • Preparing month-end and ad-hoc reporting
  • Employee relations
    • Assisting in monitoring the [email protected] inbox and respond to internal and external payroll and benefit inquiries
    • Be reliable source of knowledge and a resource for our employees
    • Knowing the answers to complex payroll questions and have the tools to research for the answers
    • Maintains employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential

What you may have: 

  • 2+ years payroll experience
  • PCP designation
  • Impeccable attention to detail with an eye for finding solutions
  • A can-do attitude and ability to work independently
  • Knowledge of existing payroll legislations and requirements

Serious bonus points if you have:

  • Experience with Workday
