The ABA TECHSHOW will always hold a special place in the Clio team’s hearts; it’s where co-founders Jack Newton and Rian Gauvreau initially launched Clio way back in 2008, and in each subsequent year we’ve scheduled our biggest feature releases around TECHSHOW to give something back to our users, and give you even more reasons to love Clio.
This year was no exception, with Clio demoing no fewer than four different features at our booth, all slated for release shortly. If you weren’t able to attend TECHSHOW, or didn’t make it by our booth, or just love our new features so much you want to read about them again, we’ve recapped them for you below.
Clio Connect upgrades
Our information sharing portal, Clio Connect, received some huge upgrades focused on encouraging collaboration with co-counsel and putting your firm front and center when communicating with clients. With the upgrades, attorneys are now able to share entire matters with external counsel, set billing rates for external counsel and allow external counsel to bill time via Clio Connect. Attorneys are now able to brand the login screen, Clio Connect portal, and communications to clients with their firm name and logo, ensuring brand visibility when utilizing Clio Connect.
Clio for Gmail Chrome Extension
We were also demoing our ‘Clio for Gmail’ Chrome extension, a slick new feature aimed at maximizing productivity for Gmail users. By installing a simple Chrome extension, Gmail users will be able to attach emails to matters, file attachments, bill time and create tasks directly from your Gmail inbox.
Attorneys who witnessed the feature at ABA TECHSHOW were delighted with the simplicity and usability, and we’ll be making the feature available on a large scale to our users within the coming weeks.
Fujitsu Wireless Integration with Clio for iPhone
As part of our latest update for the free Clio for iPhone app, we baked in an integration with Fujitsu Scansnap that will enable users to wirelessly scan documents directly to their Clio account via the app from a Fujitsu ix500 ScanSnap scanner.
A must-have for any virtual law office or attorney-on-the-go, the integration is a marked leap forward towards achieving a truly paperless law office and will guarantee that scanned documents are easily scanned, sorted and stored to the correct Clio matter, wherever you are. The integration is already live and available to any Clio customers with an ix500 ScanSnap Scanner.
Clio for Android
Our native Android app, a labor of love since we released our iPhone app to market, was on display with a first look at the app being offered. While still a work in progress, we hope to make the Android app available to our extremely patient Android userbase in the near future; the app, mimicking the design and functionality of our highly successful iPhone app, will give Android users full access to Clio functionality in the palm of their hand.
