With Clio’s new custom Payment Profiles, you’re now able to assign client-specific payment terms rather than firm-wide payment terms. This gives you an entirely new level of customization and flexibility when negotiating payment terms with your clients.
To create new Payment Profiles, first access the ‘Bill Settings’ screen from your Settings. At the bottom of the page, you’ll notice the new ‘Payment Profiles’ section. This is where you are able to name your payment profiles and specify the terms of payment (days after the invoice is issued for payment to be received without penalty). Enter as many profiles as you like and click the ‘Save Bill Settings’ button.
Now that your Payment Profiles have been established, you can apply them to your clients. Load the contact card for the client you wish to apply a Payment Profile to and click the ‘Edit’ link. At the bottom of their contact record, in the ‘Contact Billing’ section, you will now see a field to select a Payment Profile. Use this to apply the payment terms previously specified to that contact.
Going forward, generating a bill for the client will automatically specify the payment terms outlined in the applied Payment Profile, allowing for convenient and unique payment options across your client base.
We’re extremely excited to offer Payment Profiles as the first feature we’re rolling out as part of our new and improved billing options.
