Travis Schultz & Partners is a specialist compensation firm specialising in Personal Injury Law, Professional Negligence and Insurance. The firm employs over 75 staff and continues to grow, with offices across Brisbane, the Sunshine Coast, the Gold Coast and Cairns.

Modernising Workflows

Travis Schultz & Partners faced a pressing need to replace their old legal practice management system, which was no longer being upgraded or supported after being acquired by another company. The firm required a versatile solution that would allow them to take full advantage of new technology while improving efficiency and oversight across the practice. That’s when they found Clio. Clio stood out for several key reasons, including its competitive pricing, reduced data entry, and robust reporting capabilities—all of which have saved the firm a significant amount of time.

“Our previous systems were very manual, with tasks, data recording, and file notes taking up a lot of time. We needed a platform that could centralise our work and give real-time insight into our matters.” – Amy Smith, Performance Manager, Travis Schultz & Partners

A Platform Built for Flexibility and Growth

Switching to Clio gave the firm a cloud-based solution that could be accessed from any device specifically with the Clio App, enabling staff and lawyers to work seamlessly whether in the office or on the go. With a strong ecosystem of integrations, Clio provided the flexibility the firm was looking for to improve inefficiencies.

The team has grown so quickly that, as Amy says, they’re actually hoping to plateau for a bit. The pace of growth outstripped their systems, and they didn’t have the tools in place to manage it effectively. With Clio, they are now able to have clear oversight across their four different offices.

“Having all our contacts and matters at our fingertips, wherever we are, has been a game-changer. The range of integrations has allowed us to really focus on the tools that improve our efficiency the most.”

Reducing Manual Work and Boosting Productivity

Since implementing Clio, the firm has seen a major reduction in manual tasks. Using Clio Grow for client intake has saved significant time and effort, while Clio Manage streamlines task management, workflows, and document handling. The integration with Bundledocs has made sharing large briefs simple and efficient and reducing the time it takes to prepare briefs. The firm is just starting to leverage VXT and Manage AI to automate file notes and document analysis. Prior Clio, everything was done manually – with the team using excel spreadsheets to get the extra data that they needed that their old PMS didn’t have the capability to give. Now, with Clio’s reporting functionality they are able to do this seamlessly.

“VXT will be a massive game-changer. Lawyers were still dictating or handwriting notes after meetings. Having this automatically saved back to Clio frees up time for higher-level work.”

Key Impacts

  • Time-saving workflows: Automatic task lists and workflows for new files, cost agreements and conference preparation.
  • Streamlined client data management: Clio Grow provides real-time oversight of potential matters and reduces repetitive data entry.
  • Enhanced mobility: The Clio app ensures lawyers have access to matters wherever they are.
  • AI-powered efficiency: Through Manage AI, creating efficiencies with document analysis and drafting, freeing lawyers to focus on higher-value work.
“The fact that Manage AI lives within Clio is the biggest advantage for us and I believe will help with its continued uptake. This is important for change management and IT security.”

Looking Ahead

The firm is considering any changes to its onboarding processes ahead of AML changes in July 2026. Clio’s record-keeping for the data needed for Know You Client will help streamline compliance. The firm also plans to expand its use of Manage AI for document drafting, precedent banks and planning for long-term changes within the firm.
