Starting Fresh
Folich LLC launched in Singapore in 2025, and from the outset the team knew they wanted to leave behind the manual processes they had encountered at previous firms. Expense claims done monthly in Word and Excel, invoice reminders drafted by hand, and files managed without a central system — these were the problems Wilson Foo, Joint Managing Director, wanted to solve from day one. From there, the firm discovered Clio after Wilson was introduced to it by his friend and Clio Partner, Serena from Bizibody.
The firm specialises in litigation, arbitration, mediation, intellectual property, and corporate law, with a team of three lawyers and one practice manager. Getting the right systems in place early was essential to keeping their small team focused on client work rather than administration, something Clio solved from the outset.
Getting the Data right
The first task was migrating client data from multiple previous firms, each running different systems. Folich LLC worked with Bizibody to move everything seamlessly into Clio. They initially set up multi-client matters using Related Contacts, and are now exploring how to enjoy the efficiency of Clio’s multi-client matter functionality which allows you to link up multiple clients to a single matter.
The Impact on Day-to Day Work
Since moving to Clio, a number of things have improved the efficiency in which the team operates day to day.
- Disbursements can now be submitted via the mobile app as soon as they are incurred and linked directly to the relevant matter, removing the risk of expenses being missed or billed late.
- Invoice reminders are generated automatically using document templates, removing a repetitive manual task from the practice manager’s workload.
- First drafts of Letters of Engagement and Warrants to Act are produced in seconds from templates, freeing the team from repetitive manual drafting.
- Matters involving more than one client — previously a limitation of their old systems — can now be managed directly within Clio.
The firm also uses Clio alongside Outlook and OneDrive — their primary document storage system — keeping their tools connected and reducing friction across the working day.
Top 3 Ways Clio has Impacted the Firm’s Workflows
Since adopting Clio, the firm has saved significant time across three key areas:
- Client intake and conflict searches are now faster and more straightforward
- Hourly billing and disbursements are tracked automatically, eliminating manual work
- Invoice reminders are sent automatically via templates
What’s Next
Folich LLC is still in its first year and already looking ahead. The team is testing AI features built on Vincent, AI company Clio recently acquired and has since integrated into the platform, and Wilson— who also has a separate legal technology startup — has plans to explore building a Clio plugin to connect the platform to his own applications. For a firm that launched with a clear intention to run on technology that works, the foundation is in place.
