I deliver strategic finance projects to law firms to make them better and I’ve been doing it for nearly twenty years.
Based primarily in Yorkshire (I was Yorkshire Accountant of the Year in 2019) but with some national and international clients, my only area of focus is law firms.
Like any good FD/CFO my start point is data-driven internal budgeting, forecasting, and result monitoring then using that to partner with the board and drive business performance.
More than that; I am heavily involved in law firm M&A, law firm valuations (for partnership dispute, taxation or as an expert witness), law firm incorporation, tax structuring and the creation of law firm KPIs/bonus schemes/partnership remuneration strategy.
I can also do your accounts and tax returns whilst I’m there!
I trained originally with PriceWaterhouseCoopers in their Professional Practices team working with large firms like DLA Piper and Ince. More recently I was a partner in Armstrong Watson’s specialist Legal Sector team where I worked exclusively with legal clients and with hundreds of law firms. I was the lead partner for over 50 different firms – from large to small, niche to the high street and from distressed to cash rich.
I am a previous committee member of the Association of Law Firm Merger Advisors, a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, a member of the Chartered Management Institute and have a graduate diploma in Mergers and Acquisitions from Imperial College Business School.
