ClioCon Keynote

Considered to be one of the most important legal voices in the United States, Katyal is set to inspire as he shares insights from his 45 cases before the Supreme Court.

Clio, the world’s leading provider of cloud-based legal technology, has announced Neal Katyal—former Acting Solicitor General of the United States and recipient of the Edmund Randolph Award, the highest civilian award given by the U.S. Department of Justice—as a 2022 Clio Cloud Cloud Conference keynote speaker. Katyal holds the roles of both pivotal lawyer and academic. Acting as the Paul and Patricia Saunders Professor of Law at Georgetown University, he is influential in guiding the next generation of legal advocates.

At the conference, Katyal is set to inspire and inform, bringing insights from his experiences arguing before the Supreme Court and advocating for just outcomes. The audience can expect tangible and actionable takeaways from his talk, including how to structure winning arguments, as he elaborates on his unique experiences and future expectations of the Supreme Court and shares his recommendations for justice reform.

“With the high-stakes and dramatic developments that have recently taken place in the nation’s highest court, Neal Katyal’s perspective is more sought after than ever before, and we are honored to have him speak on the Clio Cloud Conference stage,” said Jack Newton, CEO and Founder of Clio.

At 52, Katyal has already argued more Supreme Court cases in U.S. history than any minority attorney, recently breaking the record held by Thurgood Marshall. This includes 45 cases before the United States Supreme Court, with his 46th and 47th arguments set to take place this October and November. Some of his most notable cases include successfully striking down the Guantanamo military tribunals, successfully defending the constitutionality of the Voting Rights Act, defending the Peace Cross in Maryland, and a landmark personal jurisdiction win for Bristol Meyers Squibb.

Neal will also do a meet and greet and book signing at the conference.

“While you likely know of his prolific legal career, or may have seen him on shows like The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, House of Cards, or Billions, this chance to hear from a living legend,” said Newton. “I know we’ll all learn a great deal from the challenges Neal Katyal has faced. In a time where we will all be challenged to have an outsized impact, his learnings will be profound.”
