Clio Awarded Tech Culture of the Year at Technology Impact Awards

The British Columbia Technology Association recognized Clio’s unique approach to supporting employees in all aspects of their lives.

VANCOUVER, BC—June 4, 2018—Clio, the leader in cloud-based legal practice management, was awarded Tech Culture of the Year at the 2018 Technology Impact Awards. The BC Tech Association honored Clio’s unique approach to employee growth both inside and outside of the office.

“We are delighted to be recognized for our culture,” said Jack Newton, CEO and Co-founder of Clio. “At Clio, we believe in supporting the whole employee by investing in their career development, and supporting them on a personal level.”

Clio is known for fostering a founder’s mentality. While other companies shy away from sharing key success metrics, Clio hosts weekly company-wide meetings to discuss company performance, inviting ideas and dialogue focused on individual and departmental impact. To ensure employees are set up to lead the company forward, Clio invests in many training programs.

Over the last year, Clio launched Basecamp: Clio’s Foundational Leadership Training Program, a six-week program designed to develop the core skills needed to be an effective manager and leader.

Basecamp is just one of the many ways Clio supports the professional and personal growth of its employees. The company also offers RRSP-matching, provides thoughtful parental leave, sponsors year-round learning events, and hosts a series of wellness initiatives, including yoga, bootcamps, and a running club.

Most recently, Clio launched the Clio Cares Program, which provides employees with a $2,000 mental wellness allowance on top of extended health benefits to use annually for mental health services that include registered psychologists, licensed social workers, and clinical counsellors.

“Each year we are blown away by the accomplishments in our growing community, and the visionary companies and individuals who are paving the way forward in tech,” said Jill Tipping, BC Tech President and CEO. “This year we had an incredible group of finalists who impressed the judges with the quality and diversity of their achievements. From law to natural resource management to retail, this year’s winners demonstrate that technological advancement is the bedrock for industry success and positive social change. We congratulate all the winners and finalists on their contributions towards building a strong, vibrant future for BC and the world we share.”

This award adds to the impressive list of designations Clio has been proud to accept this past year, including Canada’s Best Managed Companies by Deloitte, Canada’s Top Small & Medium Employers by Mediacorp, and  Most Innovative Customer Service by International Customer Management Institute.
