Vincent is Available as a Codex Plugin

Legal AI grounded in primary law and matter records lawyers can verify, now available to Vincent and Clio Work customers.

Clio, the global leader in legal AI, today announced that Vincent is available in Codex, through a new MCP plugin. Lawyers can now bring Clio’s authoritative legal content and matter context into Codex, extending substantive legal work without losing the connection to the sources and context behind it.

The quality of legal AI depends on the information it can access. Vincent is grounded in a deep legal data foundation, connecting legal professionals directly to the authority, court record, and matter context behind the analysis.

That foundation brings together Clio Library and Docket Alarm. Clio Library contains more than one billion legal documents across more than 100 countries, including case law, statutes, regulations, administrative decisions, and secondary sources. Docket Alarm adds more than one billion court records and filings. Together, they allow Vincent to reason across both the law governing a matter and the record of how it is unfolding.

Making those capabilities available within Codex as a plugin provides legal teams with a broader way to move through complex work while preserving continuity across research, analysis, and drafting. The legal sources remain connected as the work develops, giving lawyers visibility into the authority and record supporting the analysis at every stage.

With Clio’s plugin for Codex, legal teams can oversee more complex substantive work in the same environment, drawing on Vincent’s legal data as part of the research, analysis, and drafting process.

How it works: from legal research to case strategy in one continuous workflow

Once enabled, Clio’s plugin links Codex to a firm’s Clio account through MCP. Codex can then call on Vincent’s legal and docket capabilities as needed within a broader request, bringing those resources into the flow of the task without requiring lawyers to move between separate systems.

A litigation team preparing for a client meeting, for example, can start with the current status of a matter and upcoming deadlines. Vincent can retrieve the docket, analyze relevant orders and filings, and establish the procedural posture of the case. From there, the team can move into judicial analysis and legal research, using Clio Library to identify controlling authority and assess the legal issues raised by the record.

As the matter develops, Codex can retain the relevant procedural and legal context across the task, reducing the need to reassemble information at each stage. That accumulated context can then inform outputs such as a client presentation covering case status, key rulings, legal arguments, risks, and next steps, with citations preserved to the underlying sources.

Legal work and firm data remain governed within Clio

Using Clio’s plugin for Codex does not change where a firm’s legal work or records are managed. Matter information, documents, calendaring, filing, billing, and other core records remain in Clio, while the plugin allows Codex to access relevant Vincent capabilities when needed.

Client data and information accessed through the plugin remains subject to the same confidentiality, security, and governance commitments that apply across a firm’s Clio account. Firms decide whether to enable the plugin, and lawyers remain responsible for reviewing any output before relying on it.
