Connect Clio to Claude
The new connector launches alongside Anthropic’s new Claude for Legal artifacts, enabling lawyers to innovate across AI tools while the legal foundation behind their work stays with Clio.
Clio, the global leader in legal AI, today announced that its connector for Claude is now available in the Claude connector directory.
The Clio connector gives Claude a way to call on Clio to complete a legal task using relevant matter context, authoritative legal sources, and purpose-built capabilities. Clio then returns the result to Claude with its supporting sources and context intact.
The connector arrives as Anthropic announces Artifacts for Claude for Legal. Artifacts are ready-to-use interactive tools, including trackers and dashboards, that legal teams can adapt with their own data and connectors and share across their organizations. Whether the work involves applying the law to the facts, reviewing documents, drafting or refining legal documents, or taking an approved action in Clio, Claude can complete it with context from Clio
“Legal teams are increasingly working across multiple AI environments, and we’re bringing Clio’s legal intelligence to wherever our customers choose to work,” said Jonathan Watson, Chief Technology Officer at Clio. “Whether that work happens inside Clio or in Claude, firms should be able to rely on the same matter context, authoritative sources, and rigor behind the answer. Clio’s connector for Claude gives them that flexibility without compromising the legal foundation of the work.”
The legal foundation behind the connector
When a task in Claude calls for legal analysis, the connector sends only the relevant portion of the work to Clio. There, the task can draw on the matter information the lawyer is permitted to access, authoritative legal sources, and, where configured, the firm’s own methods and standards. Clio then returns the result to Claude with its supporting sources and context, allowing the lawyer to continue the broader task without manually transferring information or rebuilding the legal foundation behind the work.
Clio brings extensive legal data and infrastructure to the task. Clio Library contains more than one billion primary and secondary legal documents, with daily updates, human editorial oversight, and direct links to the passages behind each answer. Clio Docket adds U.S. federal and state court filings, allowing the analysis to reflect what has happened in court as well as the law governing the matter.
The exchange happens through Clio’s global MCP broker. The lawyer sees a single connection between Claude and Clio, while the broker recognizes the region associated with the firm’s Clio account and routes each request to the appropriate regional infrastructure. This keeps the experience straightforward in Claude while preserving the regional architecture firms rely on in Clio.
Availability
The connector is included with Clio Work at no additional cost, in every region where Clio Work is available, with support for Vincent customers coming later this year. Customers can find it in the Claude connector directory. For more information, visit clio.com.
