About the role

As a Senior Manager, Product Design, you'll lead the design team helping legal professionals get paid faster, across payments, billing and invoicing, and timekeeping. You'll lead product design strategy and team execution across this portfolio, from discovery and opportunity framing through launch and iteration, including bringing automation and AI into timekeeping. Reporting to our Product Design Director, you'll manage a team of 4-5 product designers and partner closely with Product and Engineering to set vision, drive alignment, raise the quality bar through coaching and critique, and grow the impact of the designers on your team.

Fintech looks at the money side of running a law firm: how firms track their time, bill for their work, and collect what they're owed. Our customers range from solo practitioners to mid-market firms, and for many of them, getting paid is one of the most time-consuming and stressful parts of practice. Design plays a central role in making these financial workflows faster, simpler, and more automated, so lawyers can spend less time chasing invoices and more time serving clients.

What you'll do

  • Fintech Design Strategy: Define and drive the design vision for payments, billing and invoicing, and timekeeping, helping customers get paid faster and shaping how the portfolio expands.
  • Platform Integration: Partner with design leads across Clio so time, billing, and payments feel native to the platform.
  • Automation & AI: Guide your team in automating timekeeping and bringing AI into financial workflows, designing human-in-the-loop experiences that are trustworthy, transparent, and appropriately controlled.
  • Team Leadership & Coaching: Lead and coach a team of product designers to deliver end-to-end experiences, from opportunity framing through execution, launch, and iteration. Hire and grow your team through feedback and career development, building both confidence and capability over time.
  • Triad Partnership: Partner with Product and Engineering leaders across multiple product teams to define portfolio strategy, success metrics, and high-leverage priorities grounded in customer insight and business outcomes, surfacing trade-offs early and driving crisp decisions that keep teams moving.
  • Customer & Domain Understanding: Build deep understanding of how solo to mid-market firms manage their finances, ensuring the team's work reflects real workflows, constraints, and the realities of legal practice.
  • Quality & Consistency: Raise the quality bar by setting expectations, coaching craft, and reinforcing strong standards for usability, accessibility, and coherence across connected financial experiences.

What you bring

  • 10+ years of Product Design experience, including 3+ years managing and developing other designers.
  • Experience designing fintech products, such as payments, billing, or invoicing, with a strong understanding of how money moves for businesses.
  • Experience designing for complex B2B products, ideally serving small to mid-market customers.
  • Strong UX craft and bar-raising execution, including the ability to lead vision work, solve complex interaction problems, and model high-quality design.
  • Strong understanding of AI product design, including guiding teams in human-in-the-loop AI experiences that are safe, trustworthy, and transparent.
  • Systems thinking and a platform mindset, able to drive scalable experiences across customer segments and interconnected products.
  • Fluency with modern design, prototyping, and AI tools (e.g., Claude, Figma, Cursor) and experience with accessibility standards (WCAG).
