Jack Newton and Damien Riehl Named to Inaugural FT Law 50 List

Clio Founder and CEO Jack Newton and Solutions Champion Damien Riehl have been named to the inaugural FT Law 50, a new Financial Times special report recognizing the individuals shaping the future of legal services. The list was developed through the Financial Times’ Innovative Lawyers programme in partnership with RSGI Limited and announced at the FT Global Legal Summit in London, where leaders from law firms, corporate legal departments, and technology companies gathered to discuss the future of the profession.

Newton was recognized for founding Clio and leading its growth into the world’s first intelligent legal work platform, now used by more than 400,000 legal professionals across 130 countries. Under his leadership, Clio has brought together legal work, business operations, and AI into a single connected system built for modern legal practice. The company has also grown from a two-person start-up to a global leader with US$500M in ARR and a US$5B valuation. 

Riehl was recognized for his work at the intersection of legal practice and artificial intelligence. As a Solutions Champion at Clio, he has helped shape Vincent by Clio and advance how AI is applied within real legal workflows, contributing to new standards for authoritative, accountable AI that legal professionals can rely on in practice.

The recognition comes as Clio continues to build out what legal AI can do. Vincent is evolving to interpret intent, coordinate multi-step legal work, and operate within the context of a matter, drawing on authoritative legal data and firm-specific knowledge to support legal teams at every stage of their work.
