Clio and The Florida Bar are Bringing New Legal AI Tools to Lawyers Across the State

The Florida Bar is the first state bar to offer eligible members free access to Clio Work, the AI-powered legal workspace from the global leader in legal AI

Clio and The Florida Bar are collaborating to bring legal AI to lawyers across the state through the Preferred Bar Program, announced at the 2026 Florida Bar Annual Convention in Orlando.

Clio, the global leader in legal AI, today launched the Preferred Bar Program in collaboration with The Florida Bar to bring legal AI to lawyers across the state. Eligible members will receive four months of unlimited access to Clio Work, Clio’s category-defining legal AI workspace, followed by limited access for the duration of the agreement. As the first state bar in the United States to make legal AI complimentary as a part of membership, The Florida Bar is pioneering a new approach to technology adoption in the legal profession. Through the Preferred Bar Program, Clio is the first and only company to offer bar associations and their members free access to legal AI — moving beyond discounts and paywalled offerings to put transformative technology directly into the hands of legal professionals.

The collaboration arrives at a pivotal moment in the legal industry. AI is transforming legal work, enabling lawyers to provide higher quality deliverables, operate more efficiently, take on additional clients and increase access to justice. However, generic tools are more susceptible to hallucinations than purpose-built legal AI. They don’t know the law or the context behind a matter, which limits the accuracy and utility of their answers.

Clio Work addresses that issue. It interprets facts and files, cites relevant authorities, and shapes arguments to produce clearer reasoning and stronger judgment. By understanding both a lawyer’s matters and the law, Clio Work delivers trusted research, analysis, and strategy. And now it’s accessible to every lawyer in Florida.

“AI is profoundly transforming the legal profession, but too many lawyers are using generic AI tools that can lead to an ethical minefield,” said Philip Rosenthal, Head of Bar and Academic Partnerships at Clio. “There’s a huge risk to client confidentiality and hallucinations when AI has no grounding in the law. Together, The Florida Bar and Clio offer a better path with the launch of the Preferred Bar Program. It gives lawyers free access to state-of-the-art, safe, and secure legal AI with Clio Work.  We are thrilled to inaugurate this program with The Florida Bar, one of the most innovative state bars in the country.”

Sia Baker-Barnes, Florida Bar President said, “The Florida Bar is committed to ensuring our members have the support they need to navigate new technology responsibly.  Collaborating with Clio gives our members access to legal AI that was built for the way lawyers actually work, alongside the training and education they need to use it professionally and reliably. We’re proud to be first and leading the nation.”

Benefits for eligible members of The Florida Bar

This program is the latest chapter in Clio’s long-standing commitment to bars and their members. Through the relationship, Florida Bar members will be eligible for:

  • Four months of full, unlimited access to Clio Work, Clio’s AI-powered legal workspace.
  • Continued limited access to Clio Work upon completion of the four-month period.
  • A structured training program in the responsible and ethical use of legal AI, including live and on-demand sessions designed specifically for Florida lawyers.
  • A certification path in responsible legal AI use, available to members who complete the training.

Clio Work is the first legal AI workspace that understands matters and the law. It is grounded in Clio’s library of more than one billion primary legal documents, covering all fifty states and federal jurisdictions. As legal professionals add documents, matter details, and contacts to the workspace, Clio Work develops a deeper understanding of the legal context. Outputs become more relevant, more precise, and more aligned with the lawyer’s approach.

Clio’s Preferred Bar Program

The Florida Bar collaboration marks the first deployment of Clio’s Preferred Bar Program, an initiative that aims to give every practicing lawyer in the United States access to trusted legal AI. The program advances Clio’s mission of transforming the legal experience for all by helping lawyers confidently adopt AI in ways that strengthen their practices and improve client outcomes.

Eligible members of The Florida Bar can register their interest for the benefit today. The benefit will become available to registered members later this year, with additional rollout details to be shared at the 2026 Florida Bar Convention, June 17–20 in Orlando.
