Design plays an integral role at Clio, making up one of the three pillars of our Product Organization alongside Product Management and Engineering. Product designers act as champions of user experience in our Product organization as we work to transform the way lawyers and their staff provide services to their clients. They directly engage with customers and customer data to understand the workflows of law firms and the needs and behaviours of our customers.If you’re focused on shipping value to customers with an opportunity to revolutionize an industry, you’ve found your next team.

What you'll work on:

  • Joining a diversely skilled design team 

  • Working alongside product management and engineering to prioritize what to build, why to build them, and when to build them 

  • Being responsible for balancing speed, quality, and consistency of design in a Distributed by Design environment with teammates across multiple timezones

  • Advocate for our customers' needs by knowing them and their jobs-to-be-done through qualitative UX research, quantitative product data and engaging with our customer support teams

  • Driving forward momentum on projects through constantly and iteratively delivering tangible artifacts in increasing fidelity to facilitate alignment and discussion. Whether it’s personas and their journey and system maps, user flows and object maps, or wireframes and prototypes, a Clio Senior Product Designer works collaboratively towards solutions that solves business and user problems and delivers measurable outcomes

  • Articulating the rationale behind your design decisions, and leaning into the discomfort of  difficult questions and challenging assumptions

  • Coaching and mentoring fellow designers on a range of design practices

  • Providing thoughtful and carefully candid feedback in team critiques to elevate the work of the team

  • Breaking down complex concepts into smaller, more manageable pieces

  • With the support of our UX researchers, plan, recruit, conduct research and complete analysis by selecting the most appropriate tools. UX research we do at Clio has included asynchronous and synchronous workshops in Miro, surveys using Pendo and Google Forms, interviews on Zoom and Maze usability testing

  • Leverage metrics to drive product design decisions and measure product success

  • Be able to adapt your process to the needs of the situation

You may be a fit for this role if you have:

  • Excellent communication skills; you are proactive in involving your triad and project stakeholders, and able to tell a compelling story about your work and why it matters to your end-users and the business

  • Experience as a product designer in a product-led company. SaaS experience is a bonus

  • Knowledge and understanding of payments, finance, banking or other equivalent spaces is highly desirable

  • A track record of successfully shipping products, solving customer problems and moving company metrics

  • Deep understanding of good user experience and IA and the ability to craft surprisingly simple, beautiful, useful and usable UI using a design system

  • Experience with modern design tools (we primarily work in Figma, Miro and the Google suite ) and the willingness to adopt new tools as needed (such as Maze, Pendo, Usertesting, Looker)

  • A design degree or relevant experience with platform and/or application design

  • Humility plus strong opinions that are loosely held
